Mission, Evangelism and Stewardship

Background

The desk for mission, evangelism and stewardship was established in order to promote the gospel in the Diocese of Manicaland.

When my term of office (three years) as mother of "The Community of the Holy Transfiguration" expired in the year 2000, I was appointed full time officer for the mission, evangelism and stewardship desk in early 2001.

Mission

The mission of the Church is the mission of Christ. He commissions the church:

To go and proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God;
To teach, baptise and nurture new believers (Matthew 28:16-20);
To respond to human needs (Matthew 25:31-46)
To seek and transform the unjust structures of the society (Matthew 5:13-16).

Mission is never our initiative, but our response to God's call. It is not optional but imperative. We are simply called to serve by proclaiming the good news. That is the programme of the church and it will remain so until the end of the ages.

Objectives of Mission, Stewardship, and Evangelism

To motivate believers to participate in evangelism.
To encourage Christians to uphold Christian principles by faith and works.
To encourage Christians to support church activities spiritually and materially.
To encourage the spirit of self-reliance.
To equip Christians with appropriate skills.
