Mother's Union (page 2) Projects In 2000, the Mothers' Union embarked on fundraising for a MU Centre which is needed to serve a three-fold purpose:
The fundraising committee has made great strides in raising considerable amounts so far but it will take a while longer before the building project can begin. In response to the growing number of widows, largely due to the AIDS pandemic, the Mothers' Union established a revolving fund whereby groups of widows who want to embark on income generating projects get a starting loan in addition to receiving training in basic business skills. This enables especially the rural women who are maintly peasant farmers, to supplement their income in order to pay for school fees and other needs for their children. Other Activities Ladies Day. Around 25th March, we meet in various parts of the diocese where several districts come together. The number attending at each of these can vary between 200 and 800. Each year we send a representative from the Diocesan Mothers' Union Executive to each of the venues to deliver a message from the Mothers' Union President. Lady's Day is mainly an occasion of seeking spiritual renewal and growth.
